Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places along the Côte d’Azur, and Hotel Brin d’Azur honestly surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked along the RD 98 – you know, that winding route that takes you into Saint-Tropez proper – and while it’s not right in the heart of all the madness around the old port, that’s actually perfect. You get this nice buffer from the summer crowds (trust me, you want that buffer in July and August), but you’re still close enough to walk into town when you feel like dealing with the scene.

The thing that grabbed me right away was how the place feels more like a boutique hideaway than your typical four-star hotel. The lobby has this relaxed Mediterranean vibe – lots of natural light, some really nice local artwork, and none of that stuffy formality you sometimes get in this part of France. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving after 3 PM because they’re pretty strict about room readiness. The staff actually knows the area well, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how rare that is. When I asked about avoiding the traffic nightmare getting to Pampelonne Beach, they had this insider route that saved me probably 30 minutes each way.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living there for a few days. The rooms are genuinely comfortable – not just pretty for photos – with proper blackout curtains (essential when those summer sunrises hit at 6 AM), really good air conditioning, and bathrooms that feel modern without being cold. I mean, the shower pressure alone deserves a mention. Parking can be a bit tight during peak season, but they manage it well and you’re not circling around looking for a spot like you would closer to the harbor. The pool area gets busy around midday, but early morning and late afternoon it’s this peaceful spot where you can actually hear the cicadas over the pool filter.

Honestly, the location works so well because you’re getting the Saint-Tropez experience without paying Saint-Tropez center prices for everything. There’s a little café about a five-minute walk down the road that locals actually use – great for morning coffee before the tourist spots even open. And when you do want to hit up the famous beach clubs or browse around Place des Lices, you’re talking about a 10-minute drive or a pleasant 25-minute walk through some pretty typical Provençal scenery.

The 8.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well without trying to be something it’s not. You won’t find a spa or three restaurants, but you will find a comfortable base for exploring the area with staff who seem to actually care about your experience. Perfect if you want to experience Saint-Tropez but still get some decent sleep and have a peaceful place to retreat to when the glamour gets overwhelming.

  It is a nice hotel with parking available and friendly staff. However, the cappuccino at the reception is overpriced at 5 EUR and not worth the money.

  Breakfast was delicious, with good quality products. We loved the design of the hotel. It looks like renovated in a recent period. Staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

  The location was the best thing about the hotel! Within walking minutes from the port, and very convenient to access the road to the ramatuelle beach strip. Has pool as the only facility which was a nice one but more like an Inn/ Motel experience rather than a hotel. Also, they have parking which was amazing. The staff were very friendly too. They helped us get a booking in beach clubs and accommodated us with keeping our luggages safe since they have a relatively early check out of 11AM.
