That square, by the way, is where locals still do their morning shopping – you’ll hear the market vendors setting up around 7 AM, which is either charming or annoying depending on how much you drank at VIP Room the night before.

The air conditioning is what sold me, because let me tell you, Saint-Tropez in July is no joke. The place itself feels more like staying at a friend’s apartment than a typical hotel setup – there’s character in the old building (you can hear your neighbors sometimes, just so you know), but everything works and it’s genuinely comfortable. The location is kind of perfect in that accidental way. You’re close enough to walk to Sénéquier for coffee without breaking a sweat, but far enough from the main harbor chaos that you can actually sleep. I love that you can grab groceries at the little market right downstairs, then walk to the port in your flip-flops when you’re ready to see and be seen. Parking is… well, it’s Saint-Tropez, so parking is always going to be a thing. But the narrow streets here mean you’re walking everywhere anyway, which is honestly the only way to do this town.

What really gets me about this place is how it puts you right in the middle of the real Saint-Tropez rhythm. Place aux Herbes isn’t where the tourists congregate – it’s where you’ll see French families doing their daily shopping, old men playing pétanque in the early evening, that sort of thing. The 8.7 rating makes sense because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. It’s clean, cool, and perfectly positioned for both the glamorous port scene and the actual town life. I mean, you could spend your morning browsing the Wednesday market (which spills practically onto your doorstep), afternoon people-watching from a café on the port, and evening bar-hopping, all without needing a taxi or stressing about where you’re staying. For a 3-star place, it punches above its weight simply because location trumps luxury in Saint-Tropez every single time.
