You know what struck me first about Windward? It’s that it actually feels like Saint-Tropez without trying too hard to be Saint-Tropez, if that makes sense. The location on Route des Carles is perfect — you’re close enough to walk into town (honestly, it’s maybe a 10-minute stroll to Place des Lices where the market happens), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the chaos of the port area during peak season. I mean, Saint-Tropez in July and August can be absolutely insane, so having that buffer zone is worth its weight in gold.

The hotel itself has this relaxed elegance thing down pat. It’s a proper 4-star place, but they haven’t gone overboard with the glitz — more like sophisticated beach house than flashy resort. The rooms are thoughtfully done, and I really appreciated the little touches like actually good coffee (not those terrible pod machines) and blackout curtains that work properly. You’ll sleep well here, which honestly isn’t always a given in Saint-Tropez where some places prioritize style over substance. The staff genuinely knows the area too — they pointed me toward this tiny wine bar on Rue de la Ponche that I never would’ve found otherwise, and suggested the best times to hit Pampelonne Beach (early morning or after 5pm, trust me on this).

What really sets Windward apart is how it handles the whole Saint-Tropez experience. They get that people come here for different reasons — some want the scene, others want to escape it. The concierge actually listened when I said I wanted to avoid the tourist traps and sent me to the real fishermen’s market near the old port, not the overpriced one everyone talks about. Parking is sorted (which is huge because finding a spot in Saint-Tropez proper is basically impossible during summer), and they have this great relationship with a local boat company if you want to explore the coast without dealing with the crowds at the main beaches. The 9.1 rating makes total sense when you experience how smoothly everything runs — it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the Côte d’Azur, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you real insider access to what makes this corner of Provence special.

To book a hotel in Saint-Tropez during the famous summer yacht season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts celebrities and luxury travelers from around the world.

  Fabulous property. Lovely spacious modernised rooms, and superb
  pool and jacuzzi facilities. Great service- good check-in service – very helpful and professional. I left my Hugo Boss shirt in the room and Isabelle posted it to me afterwards. We will definitely stay there again!
  
  What could be improved: Seemed difficult to get taxis to pick us up. I booked a taxi through one company (St Tropez Taxi +33494970527).. they said they knew the property and would collect us. The taxi didn't arrive and the taxi company then denied taking the booking and denied having any availability. It might be necessary to book with a different taxi company, but we ended up taking our car into town each night.

  Very clean and daily change of towels + bins, very comfortable beds and pillows, location was amazing 5-8min by car to everything and always avoiding traffic, spacious, free parking, great value for money and price is good compared to other st tropez properties in the area.
