Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Villa Alizée, I wasn’t entirely sure I was in the right place. The address says Saint-Tropez, but you’re actually in Gassin, which is this lovely hilltop village about ten minutes inland from all the Saint-Tropez madness. And honestly? That’s exactly what makes this place work. You get the cachet of the Saint-Tropez postal code without paying those insane beachfront prices or dealing with the crowds stumbling back from Club 55 at 3 AM.

The B&B sits on Chemin Sainte Bonaventure, which is basically a quiet residential street where you’ll hear cicadas instead of car horns – well, most of the time anyway. The owners (a lovely French couple who actually seem to enjoy running a B&B, which isn’t always a given) have this knack for making the place feel like you’re staying at a friend’s house, if your friend happened to have really good taste in linens and knew how to make proper café au lait. The rooms aren’t huge – this is a 3-star place, not some palatial resort – but they’re thoughtfully done with those little touches that matter. I mean, when’s the last time you stayed somewhere that had decent water pressure AND didn’t charge you extra for using the air conditioning in July?

What I really appreciate about Villa Alizée is how it feels authentically local rather than trying too hard to be “Provençal chic.” The breakfast terrace overlooks olive groves and vineyards, and on clear mornings you can actually see the Mediterranean glinting in the distance. During high season (basically June through September), you’ll want to book that terrace time early because other guests figure out pretty quickly that it’s the best spot in the house. The parking situation is straightforward – there’s a small lot, nothing fancy, but you’re not circling the block for twenty minutes like you would down in Saint-Tropez proper. And speaking of getting around, if you’re planning to hit the beaches or explore the old town, having a car is pretty much essential. The local bus exists but runs on what I’d generously call “Mediterranean time.”

The 7.8 rating feels about right to me – it’s solidly good without being extraordinary, which honestly might be exactly what you want if you’re looking for a genuine South of France experience rather than Instagram perfection. The WiFi works (crucial for those of us who can’t completely disconnect), the beds are comfortable, and the whole place has this relaxed energy that makes you want to linger over breakfast and actually read that book you brought. Just don’t expect 24-hour room service or a concierge who can get you last-minute reservations at La Petite Maison – this is more about slowing down and enjoying the simple pleasure of being in one of the most beautiful corners of the Côte d’Azur without all the pretense.

To book a hotel in Saint-Tropez during the famous summer yacht season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts celebrities and luxury travelers from around the world.

  • Once you check in, everything was great. – Seheryeli from Turkey – 30 May 2024 (8/10)

The location was great; near the center. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool & garden were just as the pictures, very very nice.

What could be improved: The landlady didn’t speak any English; the basic &certain things like rules etc. could have been written in English; it would make communication a lot easier.

  • Very beautiful villa – Maria from Portugal – 13 October 2023 (8/10)

The location was really great! We always walked to the center of Saint Tropez.
The room was great, very confortable and spacious.
The house was really cool with a beautiful garden. Be aware that there are dogs, for someone that is afraid be cautious.
Really enjoyed the breakfast as well 🙂

The owner doesn't speak english and you need to use google translate to be able to communicate (unless you speak french), she is really nice, but gets a little frustrated by the language barrier. Please be patient 🙂

  • Good – Jed from United Kingdom – 18 September 2023 (7/10)

Good location walking distance from the harbour. V. clean. Nice pool and grounds.

What could be improved: Breakfast was pretty basic, host was a little gruff on arrival as we changed the arrival time by 15minutes (traffic) and she gave my wife the rubbish from our room bin to put in the street bin as we were checking out!

  • Very relaxed, easy and pleasant I would love to stay again for more than one night. – Kerry from Australia – 8 July 2023 (9/10)

The pool is so beautiful, the house so lovely and the breakfast delish, especially the fresh baguette.
