Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Pick A Flat’s place on Rue du Portail Neuf? The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re actually living in Saint-Tropez rather than just visiting it. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Place des Lices where the old guys play pétanque under the plane trees – and if you’ve never experienced that particular slice of Provençal life, well, you’re missing out. The apartments themselves are tucked into this narrow street that most tourists rush past on their way to the port, which means you get the authenticity without the constant foot traffic. The building has that weathered Mediterranean charm where the shutters have seen better days but somehow that makes it more genuine, you know?

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep things simple but functional – these aren’t luxury suites, but honestly, when you’re spending your days wandering through the old town or lounging at Pampelonne Beach, you don’t need marble countertops. The apartments have proper kitchenettes (actually useful ones, not those sad hotel kitchenettes with a broken coffee maker), which is clutch because eating out every meal in Saint-Tropez will bankrupt you faster than you can say “rosé.” I loved being able to grab fresh bread from the boulangerie just down the street – there’s something magical about having morning coffee on a tiny balcony with actual French bread instead of whatever passes for breakfast at most hotels. The Wi-Fi worked fine, the AC kept things cool during those sweltering July afternoons, and the shower had decent pressure, which honestly covers about 90% of what I need from a place.

Here’s the thing about staying right in the heart of Saint-Tropez – you’re going to hear some street noise, especially during peak season when the town basically turns into one big party. But that’s sort of the point, isn’t it? You’re not here for a silent retreat. The trade-off is that you can stumble home from dinner at La Ponche or drinks at Café de Paris without worrying about taxis or timing. Plus, you get to experience the town in the early morning when it’s still sleepy and authentic, before the day-trippers arrive with their cameras. The staff was refreshingly straightforward – no fake smiles or over-the-top hospitality, just efficient French professionalism that gets the job done. For what you pay (which is reasonable by Saint-Tropez standards, though that’s admittedly a low bar), you’re getting a genuine slice of life in one of the most famous resort towns on the Côte d’Azur. It’s not fancy, but it’s real, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

Reviews

  • Feel like a local in the heart of St. Tropez – Deanna from United States – 24 July 2025 (9/10)

In the heart of the town steps from stores and restaurants.
Clean and nicely furnished. Air Conditioning and appliances looked brands new. Bed was comfortable. Market nearby for any basics needed. Easy communication with booking staff .

What could be improved: Due to central location you do hear people on the streets at night. We were there mid week so not too noisy.

  • Superb – Rudolf from Russia – 23 June 2025 (9/10)

Great size, very high quality of interior, central location and good communication with pick a Flat Appartments

What could be improved: All perfect

  • We did love our stay great location – Sarah from United Kingdom – 6 June 2025 (8/10)

The property was great however we did have an issue with getting into the apartment block as the key from the street would not work which was very stressful as I was with my elderly mother in law

What could be improved: Key problems

  • It was so worth it – Arsho from Germany – 15 July 2025 (10/10)

Everything, the location in particular 😍

What could be improved: Nothing bothered me

  • Very poor – Sandra from United States – 5 July 2025 (2/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Electricity went off 20 times, in 2 days!!! We learn how to switch the brakers from the electricity box which was very scary to me and my family , the host was very nice trying to help but i guess the electric problem were much bigger. Air conditioning in the top floor not working at all, elevator not working even dough they fix it, but we were scared to use it because the electrical problems in the apt. Im very sorry to say all this things, but i pay money to be comfortable, instead we could not wait to leave 😔

  • Excellent location! – Martairene from United States – 30 June 2025 (10/10)

I had a fantastic stay at this apartment! The location was excellent, close to everything I needed. The space was surprisingly large, beautifully decorated, and spotless. It felt very comfortable and well-maintained. The host was also great, very easy to communicate with and always quick to respond. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Beautiful place. Horrible host. Will not return. – Robert from United States – 4 June 2025 (2/10)

It’s in a great location. A quiet side street in old town. The very picture of old France.

What could be improved: Biggest issue is with the host. I was given the wrong address. I went to the address given and found it not be correct. It took a couple of calls to get it sorted out. No real apology. We walked around Monaco with all our luggage for nearly half an hour trying to find where to go. It was embarrassing and the host offered no recourse. 1 issue with the property itself that mostly falls back on the host. The door handle was broken. Called the host, they said it would be fixed. It never got fixed. I do not recommend this host. 0/10

  • Great location, great (but small) unit, not worth the cost. – Mark from United States – 7 July 2025 (6/10)

One of the best locations in St Tropez

What could be improved: They sent me the wrong check in address and you can't park in the neighborhood to unload your luggage so we were struggling with an illegally parked car and finding the unit (Which took 45 mins). For the price we paid, the room was tiny.

  • Good – Anonymous from Germany – 22 May 2025 (7/10)

Location, easy access to the rooms

What could be improved: I had to call twice as there was no toilet paper. We had to wait until the afternoon / early evening to receive it which is not optimal.

  • The worst stay ever – Anonymous from Lebanon – 5 July 2025 (1/10)

    Only the location
Every thing else was a disaster

What could be improved: The AC did not work in 3 rooms
The electricity was cut off for the whole evening making it impossible to shower and pack up
