Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Petit Jean – honestly, the name made it sound like some tiny pension your grandmother might run. But this little four-star gem tucked away on Place de l’Ormeau completely surprised me, and I mean that in the best way possible. The building itself has that weathered Provençal charm that you can’t fake, with those pale yellow walls that seem to glow differently depending on the time of day. It’s maybe a five-minute walk from the port (though good luck with that in July when the crowds are insane), and you’re actually close enough to hear the gentle clanking of boat rigging when the mistral isn’t howling through town.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about getting things right – not in that overly polished way you get at some of the flashier places near the Vieux Port, but more like they actually want you to discover their corner of Saint-Tropez. The rooms are… well, they’re not huge, but honestly, who spends time in their room in Saint-Tropez anyway? Mine had this lovely view toward the Place des Lices direction, and the bathroom was surprisingly modern without feeling sterile. I will say the air conditioning worked beautifully, which is no small thing when you’re dealing with those brutal August afternoons. The 7.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the Peninsula or anything, but it delivers on what matters. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare (welcome to Saint-Tropez), though they do have a small lot behind the building that fills up fast during peak season.
Here’s the thing that sealed it for me, though – the location puts you right in the sweet spot between tourist madness and local life. You can slip down to Rue Gambetta for your morning coffee without fighting through the cruise ship crowds, and you’re close enough to duck back for a siesta when the afternoon heat gets unbearable. The little square right outside gets this gorgeous light in the early evening, and there’s something almost village-like about it despite being in the heart of everything. I actually found myself sitting on my tiny balcony with a glass of rosé, watching locals walk their dogs and tourists figure out their maps – it felt authentically Saint-Tropez in a way that the waterfront hotels sometimes don’t. Is it perfect? No, the breakfast could use some work, and the WiFi gets spotty when everyone’s streaming Netflix after dinner. But if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual character, somewhere that gets Saint-Tropez right without the ridiculous price tag of the palace hotels, Petit Jean delivers exactly what it promises.

Amazing location, walking distance to the port, the beach, shops and restaurants. The air conditioning was great and very effective. Really nice window sill that opened out on the street. Good sized kitchen and bathroom. Owner was friendly and helpful.

Amazing location and amazing apartment
What could be improved: NothingLovely September stay – Clauda from United Arab Emirates – 28 September 2023 (9/10)
The place was very nice, modernized and cozy, with a perfect location in the old town. It is right at a lovely square with a huge tree and a Vietnamese restaurant where it usually got a bit busy at night, but good busy, as in charming scenery.
What could be improved: The toiletries were not enough for the three of us, but overall the place is really nice. No elevator because it is a building in the old town, but the stairs to the 2nd floor were not that bad even with us carrying our luggage.Exceptional – Lauren from United Kingdom – 26 May 2023 (10/10)
Great apartment for 2 people close to St Tropez town, located just off a quiet square. There is a restaurant below in the evenings, but you can't hear it in the evenings. The apartment was clean & perfect for a long weekend stay, the host was helpful & flexible with us.
My place in Saint Tropez for the last 10 years ! – Maria from Italy – 5 November 2022 (10/10)
Excellent location in one of the best spots of Saint Tropez, a small square behing the main church. Small apartment perfect for couples, very well organised and managed by a nice host that was very helpful both before and during our staying. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. 5 minutes walking from the harbour. Will definetely be back in 2023 also !
Perfekt – Till from Germany – 5 October 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: – Comunicação do host que apenas no dia antes da reserva respondeu às mensagens. Contudo, tivemos também um problema e esquecemo-nos de roupa no apartamento e respondeu logo nesse caso, tal como foi ter connosco quando pedimos por falta de alguns utensílios na casa.Fijn – Martinus from Netherlands – 5 June 2024 (8/10)
