Hotel Description

You know what? I’ve stayed at plenty of boutique hotels in Saint-Tropez, but Maison Magdeleine actually surprised me – and honestly, that’s rare these days. It’s tucked away on Rue Etienne Berny, which is perfect because you’re literally a three-minute walk from Place des Lices (where the Tuesday market happens), but you’re far enough from the main drag that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling back from Café de Paris at 3 AM. The building itself is this gorgeous old Provençal house that someone clearly spent serious money restoring – I mean, the original stone floors and beamed ceilings are intact, but everything else feels fresh and thoughtfully designed.

What really got me was the attention to detail that you don’t expect, even at five-star places. The room I had overlooking their little courtyard had these incredible linen curtains that actually blocked out the morning sun (crucial if you’re planning late nights at Les Caves du Roy), and the bathroom… well, let’s just say the rainfall shower was big enough for two and the water pressure was fantastic. They’ve got this small pool area that’s nothing fancy, but it’s private and quiet – perfect for recovering from a day at Pampelonne Beach without dealing with hotel crowds. The staff genuinely knows Saint-Tropez inside and out too. When I mentioned wanting good bouillabaisse away from the touristy spots, the concierge sent me to this tiny place near the old port that I never would’ve found otherwise.

I’ll be honest, parking can be a bit of a headache (it’s Saint-Tropez, so that’s basically unavoidable), but they handle valet service smoothly and the location makes up for it. You can walk to everything that matters – the harbor, the citadel, even that little beach at La Ponche where locals actually swim. The breakfast situation is solid too, served in their garden when weather permits, with proper French pastries and coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine. Is it expensive? Of course – this is Saint-Tropez in summer. But for what you get, especially considering how hard it is to find a place here that feels authentic rather than flashy, Maison Magdeleine delivers. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully restored family home rather than just another luxury hotel trying too hard to impress.

  • Little Gem in the heart of St Tropez. – Acolli from United Kingdom – 6 June 2023 (10/10)

What a little gem in Saint Tropez!
We absolutely loved our stay. Beautifully furnished and wonderful facilities. In a quiet location in the heart of Saint Tropez.
    Would recommend without hesitation.

What could be improved: Really can't think of anything.
Of no concern for us, but those with limited accessibility would be advised there are outside stairs for bedroom and pool access.

  • Picture Perfect Paradise – Kendra from United States – 30 March 2023 (10/10)

The beds, the location and the kitchen/outdoor area.

  • Lovely home, great host – Henning from Saudi Arabia – 7 April 2024 (8/10)

Rustic and traditional with modern amenities

What could be improved: Had to step outside from living/dinning to get to upstairs bedrooms. It was raining all weekend and that separation wasn’t ideal.
