Hotel Description
You know what surprised me most about L’escapade? It’s this unassuming little gem tucked away in Résidence les Lisières, where you’d honestly drive right past it if you weren’t looking. I mean, the address says Saint-Tropez but you’re actually on the quieter outskirts – which, let me tell you, is exactly where you want to be if you’re trying to avoid the circus that downtown Saint-Tropez becomes in summer. The whole area feels more like a residential neighborhood where actual people live, not just a tourist playground. When I first pulled up, I wasn’t sure I was in the right place because it looked so… normal? But that’s kind of the point.
What really got me was how the staff actually seemed to care about what you were doing with your day. The woman at reception – I think her name was Marie – knew all these little shortcuts to get to the beaches without sitting in traffic for an hour. She told me about this back route to Pampelonne that shaves off like twenty minutes, and honestly, that tip alone was worth it. The rooms themselves are pretty straightforward, nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s spotlessly clean. I stayed in one of the upper floor rooms and you can actually catch glimpses of the Mediterranean through the trees if you crane your neck just right from the little balcony. The bed was one of those firm European mattresses that takes a night to get used to, but then you sleep like a rock.
Here’s the thing about this place – it’s got that rare combination of being close enough to all the Saint-Tropez madness when you want it, but far enough away that you can actually get some peace. You’re maybe a ten-minute drive from Place des Lices (where the Tuesday and Saturday markets happen, and trust me, go early), and about fifteen minutes to the port where all the mega-yachts dock. But when you come back to L’escapade in the evening, there’s this lovely quiet that settles over the whole residence. I could hear cicadas chirping from my window, not car horns. The parking situation is actually manageable too, which if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near central Saint-Tropez, you’ll appreciate. Look, it’s a 3-star place that knows exactly what it is – comfortable, well-run, and perfectly positioned for people who want to experience the real Côte d’Azur without paying resort prices or dealing with resort crowds. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
