Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Le Mas de la Dame? It actually feels like you’re staying at someone’s elegant country house rather than a hotel – which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to escape the Saint-Tropez circus. The property sits on Chemin des Tourterelles (literally “turtle dove path,” how perfect is that?), tucked away just enough from the main drag that you won’t hear scooters buzzing past your window at 2 AM, but close enough that you can still walk into town when the mood strikes. I mean, it’s about a fifteen-minute stroll to the old port, maybe twenty if you stop to peek into those little galleries along the way.

What really sets this place apart – and honestly, this surprised me – is how they’ve managed to capture that classic Provençal vibe without feeling stuffy or overdone. The rooms have this lived-in elegance, with actual antiques mixed in with modern touches, and the beds are seriously comfortable (I’m talking sink-right-in-and-forget-the-world comfortable). The bathrooms are spacious too, which you can’t always count on in these converted properties. There’s a pool area that’s absolutely gorgeous in the late afternoon light – sort of hidden away behind some olive trees, so it feels private even when other guests are around. The staff here genuinely seem to care about what they’re doing, which makes such a difference. They’ll give you the real scoop on where to grab lunch without the tourist markup, or which beaches are actually worth the drive.

Here’s the thing about staying here versus those flashier places closer to the harbor – you get to experience Saint-Tropez the way it probably felt twenty years ago, before every corner became Instagram bait. Sure, you’re not stumbling distance from Club 55, but honestly? That’s probably a good thing unless you’re really into that scene. The 9.2 rating this place has earned makes complete sense once you’ve been there; it’s one of those spots where everything just works without trying too hard. The breakfast alone (served on this lovely terrace overlooking the garden) is worth getting up early for, especially if you snag one of the tables under the pergola. Fair warning though – book well ahead if you’re planning a summer visit, because once people discover this place, they tend to come back year after year.

Absolutely incredible property. The pool and yard were gorgeous. The room was new and had plenty of room. a five min walk to the beach and some restaurants overlooking the beach. A 20 min walk to the main town and harbor. I can’t say enough about how happy I am with this experience.

  • Kersti from Australia (1/10)

I made a booking and was advised via email by the host that they are unable to host me and will cancel my reservation. I booked another hotel based on the email, however was still charged the amount. When I contacted the host the next day and asked about the refund, I did not hear back from them. I also called them twice but they spoke in French (I kindy advised in English that I don't speak French unfortunately) but they just hanged up on me twice). Terrible experience and would not recommend anyone.
