Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Saint-Tropez over the years, and honestly? Most of them are either overpriced tourist traps or completely booked out during the summer madness. La Bastide des Salins is different – it’s tucked away on Route des Salins, which means you’re close enough to hit the port when you want that whole scene, but far enough out that you can actually sleep at night without hearing drunk Germans singing on the cobblestones at 3 AM.

The thing that got me about this place was how it feels more like staying at someone’s really well-appointed country house than a hotel. You know what I mean? The kind of place where the morning coffee actually tastes like coffee, not hotel room swill. They’ve got this courtyard area where you can sit with your breakfast and hear nothing but birds and the occasional motorbike heading toward the beaches – which, by the way, are way better on this side of town than the crowded mess at Pampelonne. The staff here actually knows the area too, not just the tourist highlights. When I asked about getting to some of the smaller beaches, the guy at the front desk drew me a little map showing the walking path through the vineyards. Try getting that kind of local knowledge at the big chains.

What really sold me was the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The Wi-Fi works everywhere (I mean everywhere – even tested it by the pool), there’s proper parking that doesn’t cost extra, and the rooms have those little touches that show someone was thinking about real guests, not just Instagram photos. The bathroom had actual water pressure, the AC didn’t sound like a helicopter landing, and – this might sound weird but it matters – the hangers in the closet were real hangers, not those security ones that fall apart when you look at them wrong. Plus, it’s quiet. Really quiet. I’m a light sleeper and usually bring earplugs everywhere, but I didn’t need them here. The 9.4 rating makes total sense when you add it all up – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Saint-Tropez, but it nails all the stuff that makes a stay actually comfortable rather than just expensive.

  The staff are super friendly… Every member of staff. We had two breakfast guys.. the first one his smile just lightens up your day and gives you a great start to your day. That smile would melt the polar ice caps such a friendly person. The second breakfast guy super chatty and friendly and made perfect breakfast. The shuttle bus driver although he doesn't speak great English he was really helpful in giving us tips with our very broken French and even showed us a better beach to go to. The staff at the counter and reception were always super friendly too. They even helped book some restaurants for us in advance of our stay.
  
  The room itself was fantastic. Great shower, double basin. Bed was super comfortable and big. Also had
  A bath but didn't get the chance to use it.
  
  Pool is great too if you want a break from the beach. Gym centre is decent, not pictured in the photos but there's benches and weights which was great if you want to remain fit during your holiday.

  Jewel of a hotel, perfectly located a couple of km out of St Tropez. Fabulous bathroom, good size bedroom, very comfortable bed and delicious, comprehensive breakfast. Staff were charming and very helpful in finding and booking great restaurants for us in the midst of Regatta week. Fantastic shuttle service into and back from town every evening. All expectations met.

  Stunning property set in a quite location. short walk to a small beach and restaurant and access to a beautiful coastal walk to the main beach. The property is a little out of the main centre but they do offer a shuttle service which is a plus. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were polite, friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasurable as it was. Would definitely recommend.

  Such a beautiful and immaculately clean hotel. Very attentive staff (from reception right through to hotel shuttle drivers). Located 10mins from St Tropez Centre via the very handy hotel. Located in quiet / peaceful grounds. Definitely a place you can switch off and fully relax beautiful St Tropez
