Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Holiday Home Les Parcs de Gassin-2, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place this close to Saint-Tropez. I mean, you know how it is around here, everything’s either crazy expensive or… well, there’s usually a catch. But this little spot on Chemin du Rogon de la Valette actually surprised me. It’s tucked away in this residential area that feels refreshingly normal after dealing with the Saint-Tropez circus down the hill. The whole complex has this sort of understated vacation rental vibe – not flashy, but you can tell someone actually thought about making it comfortable for families who want to stay more than a night or two.

What really won me over was the location, honestly. You’re technically in the Saint-Tropez postal code (which sounds impressive when you tell people back home), but you’re actually up in the quieter Gassin area where you can find parking without selling a kidney and grab groceries without the tourist markup. It’s maybe a 10-minute drive down to the port when you want that whole glamorous French Riviera experience, but at night you come back to this peaceful spot where you can actually hear the cicadas instead of yacht engines. The setup feels more like staying at a friend’s vacation place than a hotel – there’s space to spread out, and I loved having a kitchen because, let’s face it, eating out every meal in this area gets expensive fast.

The 7-out-of-10 rating seems about right to me. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, and honestly the decor feels a bit dated in that early-2000s vacation rental way, but everything works and it’s genuinely clean and comfortable. During my stay in late June, the place stayed surprisingly cool even during those brutal afternoon heat waves we had. The real win here is that you get to experience this gorgeous part of Provence without the Saint-Tropez price tag or crowds – you’re close enough to hit the beaches at Pampelonne or wander through the old village when you want that postcard experience, but far enough away that you can actually relax. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re planning to stay for a week or so and want a proper base rather than just a place to crash between beach days.
