Honestly, when I first walked into this place on Rue Saint-Jean, I wasn’t expecting much from the narrow entrance – but wow, was I wrong. The apartment is tucked right in the heart of what locals call the “golden square,” and I mean literally golden here. You’re maybe a two-minute stroll from Place des Lices (where that famous Tuesday market happens), and the port is so close you can actually hear the gentle clinking of yacht rigging when the mistral isn’t blowing.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Provençal charm while making everything work for modern travelers. The kitchen actually has proper counter space – you know how rare that is in these old Saint-Tropez buildings – and the bedroom gets this gorgeous morning light that filters through those classic blue shutters. I spent way too much time on that little balcony with my coffee, watching the early dog walkers navigate the cobblestones before the town wakes up properly. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which honestly saved me when I needed to extend my stay (good problem to have, right?).

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of town – you’re in the real Saint-Tropez, not the glitzy port area where tourists cluster around the same three cafés. Walk five minutes down toward Place de l’Ormeau and you’ll find where locals grab their morning pastries, or head the other direction toward Rue Gambetta for some serious people-watching. Parking can be a bit of a dance if you’re driving – I’d suggest the Parc des Lices lot, it’s only about 200 meters away and way less stressful than trying to squeeze into those tiny street spots. The apartment stays surprisingly quiet at night considering you’re in the center of everything, though you might catch some late-night laughter drifting up from the streets during peak season – but honestly, that just adds to the charm. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s one of those places that gets all the little details right without trying too hard to impress you.

  What could be improved: $500 cash deposit initially worried me, but they do a good job by putting it in an evvelope, signing it as a deposit, and letting you take a picture as a pseudo insurance.
