Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Saint-Tropez – I mean, this town isn’t exactly known for budget-friendly gems. But Chantal Deluxe sort of surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked on Rue du Parc des Lices, which puts you maybe a three-minute walk from the famous Tuesday and Saturday markets (you know, where locals actually shop for produce and the tourists hunt for lavender soap). The location is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re in the real Saint-Tropez without being right in the middle of the port madness.

The hotel itself has this understated charm that grows on you. Nothing flashy or Instagram-ready, but everything just… works. My room was smaller than what you’d get at some chain hotel, but it had these lovely shutters that actually blocked out the light – crucial when you’re trying to sleep off a late dinner at one of the port restaurants. The air conditioning runs a bit loud, I’ll be honest, but in July that white noise was almost welcome. What really got me was the staff – they genuinely seemed to know the area. When I asked about getting to Pampelonne Beach without a car, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a taxi number. He explained the local bus situation, mentioned which beach clubs let you walk through their property, even suggested the best time to go to avoid the worst crowds.

You know what I loved most? The breakfast setup. It’s not some massive buffet situation, but they do these perfect croissants – clearly from a local bakery – and the coffee is strong enough to wake the dead. I’d sit on their little terrace in the morning, listening to the market vendors setting up across the way, planning my day without feeling rushed. The whole vibe is just… relaxed. Which is rare in Saint-Tropez, where everything usually feels like it’s performing for someone’s social media. Sure, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a spa, but honestly, who needs that when you’re steps from some of the best cafés on the Côte d’Azur? The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you realize this place isn’t trying to be something it’s not – it’s just a really solid, well-run hotel in an amazing spot. Perfect if you want to experience Saint-Tropez without paying those ridiculous luxury hotel prices or dealing with the scene at the big resort places down by the water.
